BIEE Webinar: Behavioural economics, energy and climate policy: Lessons from the last three decades

Professor Luis Mundaca, Lund University

There has been growing scientific and policy attention on the role of behavioural economics to advance energy and climate mitigation policies. With a strong focus on consumers, several initiatives have been implemented around the world to, for example, promote energy conservation or boost the market uptake of electricity from renewable energy sources. The body of knowledge is growing fast and the energy sector and policy makers are increasingly asking, what are the main lessons learnt?

In this webinar, we take a close look at behavioural economics as applied to energy use and climate mitigation. We briefly review the conceptual and methodological foci in this context, and discuss several applications implemented over the last three decades. Particular attention is given to the impacts, uncertainties and implications for policymaking.
