Committee on Climate Change Letter on EMR Delivery Plan

The Committee on Climate Change has written to DECC in response to the consultation on the draft Electricity Market Reform Delivery Plan. http://www.theccc.org.uk/publication/letter-ccc-responds-to-draft-emr-delivery-plan/ It suggests that the Government should provide more clarity over the level of ambition for the 2020s. It further suggests that whilst the proposed strike prices for offshore wind start at a broadly appropriate level, they then fall more rapidly than the evidence suggests is achievable, including analysis from the Offshore Wind Task force. This would put required investment in the first Delivery Plan at risk, so the Committee suggests the rate of degression in the strike prices for offshore wind should be reduced.
