The latest national statistics on Energy Trends and Prices produced by the Department of Energy and Climate Change were released on 30 May 2013.
Provisional 2012 results show that total energy production was 10.3 per cent lower than in 2011, due to significant falls in the production of oil and gas. Total primary energy consumption for energy uses was 2.5 per cent higher than in 2011. However, when adjusted to take account of weather differences between 2011 and 2012, primary energy consumption fell by 0.2 per cent. Final energy consumption was 1.8 per cent higher than in 2011, with rises in all sectors except transport, though on a temperature corrected basis final energy consumption is estimated to have fallen by 0.1%.
