Local Energy Oxfordshire: re-building the energy system from the bottom up

Barbara Hammond Low Carbon Hub . The Energy Strategy for Oxfordshire, published this Autumn, will set very challenging targets for energy system transition in the County based on our agreed 2030 carbon reduction scenario.  From these challenges come opportunities for building a dynamic local energy market that keeps money circulating in the local economy, gives us control over our energy supply and contributes our bit to reducing carbon emissions.  Our hypothesis is that this new energy system needs to be built from the bottom up, where energy use is as close to the point of production as possible.  And such a bottom-up system needs to involve people in many different roles, perhaps least of all in the role of consumer.  The presentation will attempt to outline a picture of what these opportunities might look like and how they might join together.
