The Centre for Competition Policy and UKERC have published a new report on: Fairness in Retail Energy Markets? Evidence from the UK.
The report presents emerging findings from multi-disciplinary research, carried out by the Centre for Competition Policy, University of East Anglia as part of the UK Energy Research Centre research programme.
In recent years the affordability of energy has come back on to the agenda. Whilst successive governments have emphasised that affordability needs to be considered alongside other policy goals – particularly reducing carbon emissions – household energy bills have attracted increasing political attention. The publication of this book is timely, and puts these recent debates and policy interventions into context. It presents new data, evidence and analysis which will, be of significant value for policy makers and regulators who need to protect consumers whilst continuing to drive the transition to a low carbon, secure energy system.
